Dose any one know if you register a car privately imported into the UK if it gets a reg of its year of it or dose it go in to a Q plate?
I though it go a reg from its year but talking to a mate the other day he was saying they go on a Q.

Definitely on the year of registry OR date of manufacture (depending where you import it from). If its from the EU you'll get the first date of registry, if from the US you'll get the date of manufacture. Why it is done like this, I have no clue........

Re: inported G`s

Hello Lenny,

I think the Q-plate was for vehicles that were built, repaired or reassembled with major components  from different Donner vehicles.

Cheers,
