Re: Huge discount on 2011 G350

I forgot to read the small print +VAT which on £60,000 eqates to an extra £12,000. Not so good!

this one is arguably better value

it does show though that these unrealistic prices are being discounted in the search for sales

Re: Huge discount on 2011 G350

I bought mine for £75k (900 miles), on that basis a 2011 RHD 350 is cheaper than a LHD !

Re: Huge discount on 2011 G350

Extremely pleased, the purchase followed the logic any G is better than no G as I would have had a clear preference for a G500.  As far as price is concerned, I paid £75k for a two month old 900 mile car a discount of £12k.  Compared to a LHD-car you get the UK-spec plus many extras and RHD for free.  Whether one needs all those extras in a G350 is another matter, I always felt that the basic G350 as sold in Germany (no leather etc) I truest to the G-spirit.  On the other hand, a high specification feels right in a G500.  In a way, a G350 and a G500 look the same but have a different character.  And as I’m going through my subjective assessment of Gs, a remark on the G55:  I have driven (not owned) such a car on two occasions.  Initially it appeals to the boy in the man but that fades quickly, the noise level makes it a car for short distances.  On one occasion we drove convoy with a G55 and a G500. To everybody’s surprise in flowing traffic and  in the speed range up to 90 miles the G55 was not significantly faster than a G500, I assume the seven-speed gearbox helps to levels the 120hp difference.
