Hi All, struggling to find the part number for the later type 460 manual gear lever gaitor. I've converted my '89 lwb from auto to manual and my local dealer is struggling to find it for me, ideally it should match the transfer lever one, which is the later leather look type, not the earlier rubber one. Anybody got an idea? Any help appreciated, cheers, Mick.

Thanks PXW, I had seen these but was unsure of how well they fit, if you look closely at the pics you can see under the edges of them, through to the castelated top of the plastic tunnel they fit to. Any experience of these exact ones? Certainly a good price, so far had the correct type for the transfer lever by mistake and that was over 55 pounds, also had the old type by mistake and that was about 20 pounds from memory, luckily they have both been sent back.

Re: Gear lever gaitor

Hi

A little difficult as to what you have fitted, i assume a five speed?

Could do with you chassis number just to help and also rule out what you started with.

I am going for a A460 260 01 68 with code 7102 Grey or 8303 Brazil?

A few more details and i can have another look

The corresponding Transfer Lever one should be A460 280 00 60 with the same codes

Re: Gear lever gaitor

Hi Gav, this is for the one I'm converting with a 606a and 6 speed box. The numbers you have quoted make sense, the transfer lever one we've had, and they have got in for me the other number for the main gear lever, but he says it doesn't look any bigger than what I've taken back(transfer lever one), so they were still looking into it. I'll call in there tomorrow and have a look. Always difficult sorting these odd parts out when you don't have a chassis number, obviously mine only leads us down the auto path. I do have a note of some chassis numbers for occasions like this, but nothing for a late W460 manual. Thanks for that anyway, wouldn't have known they had got it in if I hadn't rang with the part number from you! I'll update when I've been in tomorrow. Best regards, Mick.

Re: Gear lever gaitor

Thanks guys, 460 260 01 68 / 7102  it is. Looked far too small, but stretches out and fits well. Thanks for the help.

Re: Gear lever gaitor

Thanks for that Gav, but I think it's you we all owe a debt to, I've been through all your posts and catalogued all the parts and numbers you've sorted for various members, It's a really useful encyclopedia of G information.  It's a pity this information cant be put into a WIKI type section on the website, so anybody who has overcome part number mysteries can add it to the page. Would save you repeating the same part searches over and over.

I will have some used parts in the near future, I've just bought 7 G Wagens mainly to restore but there will be some parts I'll be selling off. particularly all the engines and gearboxes.
