what are the best options for a decent lookung truck like this, a 606, a 606a or live with it until it lets you down, as it appears to have done once before [coolant hose apparantly]
Well fancy that.. an OM603 with a coolant related problem... I'd betcha a hundred bucks is was not a loose coolant hose.
Given that you have the 603 TD pump, why on earth would you hook it up to a neutered 606A (606A in the UK almost certainly given the rarity of the NA 606 here)? Axel will know more, but I suspect a reasonable bit of plumbing would still be required (603 inlet manifold for example).
606A it is then, but do you really want a left hooker?
It's the 350 603 that has the problems. Mine is the same as this (LHD) and I have no problems driving it over here. Makes no difference.
The 3.0 603 turbo has more power (on paper) than the 350 and is great. Mine came from a LHD w124 saloon.
the only engines that have 6mm pump elements are the electronically managed 606a and 605a /all the manual pumps have 5.5 mm elemented pumps / the 603a 3 litre version is a very nice engine and can make big power if correctly fettled and the bore stroke relationship along with the 2 valve per cylinder head configuration gives good bottom end power /good for a heavy vehicle like a g wagen / i bet it drives really well.
Yep. I'm amazed at how well it goes. V.quite on the motorway amd pretty swift. I'd be interested in some advice/thoughts on tweaking the pump settings. Dont want to increase overall mpg at all. Just want to know if adjusting can improve power and make it run as well as possible. Read on Superturbo diesel site about adjusting a few screws at rear bulkhead end of pump.?
