G1 WAG 230 GES classified ad
Paid my tenner yesterday for a Classified Ad but... nothing received yet as to how to put it up there. Might just be me being thick but Admin - if you want to copy/paste this into the right place that would be great!
Meantime - I'm sorry to say that after a 12 year love affair my G days have to come to an end... : (
So, registration G1 WAG is up for auction next Tuesday 22/03/2011 at Brightwells in Leominster, firmly attached to my old 1990 230 GES. Almandine Red with the usual rusty mouse-holes in the rear quarters. This is a working G that I have used around the homestead for the last six years, usually about 5-10k miles a year and fixing major faults as they have come up - new exhaust from the manifold down, new radiator, new head gasket in the last couple of years. Other traditional G faults all present and correct - damp footwells from the leaky screen, broken driver's seat cushion, passenger window struggles to go up, screen blower sounds like a dentist's drill, central locking only works on passenger door (so reach across), rear brakes stick if handbrake left on for too long (so leave it in first gear) and a strong smell of petrol if you fill up above half a tank (so only put in £25 quid).
Probably some other little issuettes as well that I can't think of just now, but in reasonable unwashed nick for her age and quite driveable - MOT till Nov, taxed till Sept. 183k genuine miles (full MOT history since 1993). Manual shift. Diff locks all working. Goodrich Mud Terrains all round (new 3 years ago) plus good condition Semperit spare with MB gunsight cover. Tow bar and electrics at the back, tow pin and working fogs on the front bumper. Fire extinguisher (never used :) MB front mats, 3 rear seat headrests, sliding rear windows, four-gun floor rack (not fixed) and MB roll-up dog guard in the back. I'm keeping the dog for a bit longer.
Sorry to have run out of time to offer her here to members, but there is NO RESERVE at the auction - she has to go and will fetch what someone will pay for her. Hopefully a G fan and not a dealer - the plate isn't worth too much but it's a bit of fun for a fan and if you buy it, you get a free car into the bargain.
You can find auction details at www.brightwells.com/Vehicles/4x4/Default.aspx and catalogue details at www.brightwellsauctions.co.uk/Vehicles/catalogue4x43sections.asp - Lot 15. Delivered to their yard this afternoon, so can be viewed there Monday or Tuesday before the sale if you want. If you're interested but can't get there, you can register to bid online or via the phone on the day.
Some pics attached.
Best wishes to all you G fans - keep the faith. So long, and thanks for all the fish.
Regards,
Rob.
have you any photographs you could attach, is it manual or auto
anyone buy it?
Wow - there's some nice sounding cars going cheap there. G230 bargain at £1300 with that fun plate. Wish I had logged back on to GWOA a week earlier.

I'm sure the plate and probably the G will turn up.
Interesting ! Just got a listing of the auction prices and this must be the same car - just jumped up £850 and the dogguard is now missing. Did someone want the plate? They made a nice turnaround profit doing nothing. I hate it when that happens.
