G WAGON WINDSCREEN STOLEN!!!
Sorry not sure which section to post this in but....
The windscreen was lifted off my G Wagon overnight! I have NEVER heard of such a crime - does this happen often?!
Also the bleedin' thieves left the road tax holder (which had a few previous discs in it) but took the actual valid tax disc too.
WTF!!!!!!
Wow, never heard of that! What part of the coutry are you in?
well with them taking the tax disc as well there might be a chance of you getting it back as the tax will identifi .. fingers crossed theiving little bas^&*ds are in you local police station along with your screen and tax disc
WTF indeed. Only consolation is that they are not too expensive to replace, but that is not much help really when the scumbags have got away with it. Don't suppose there will be much the police can or will do about it?
yes report the tax disc as stolen 100% ...
there is 1 screen on ebay at £45 for a w460 in the stafford area if that helps ..
Just to throw the spanner in the works, if you want to clam to the DVLA of the stolen tax disc, you should have reported it stolen to the police so they could have included this in their report and included in the reference number given to you , should DVLA ask for it.
On your next windscreen and infact all windows consider having your Registration number etched on as a deterrent.
But on the whole, never have I heard of this type of robbery.
Sorry for your loss.
I've never heard of anything like that, esspecially as a G windscreen is quite cheap to replace, thanks to it being flat.
Ps, the screen near Stafford is out of a SWB G that he is breaking.
With Jamie on the tax disc. Did you report it to the police? Also Pistonhead is right about the etching. Would render the screen pretty much useless to a legitimate buyer
Good luck with getting it all sorted
low life bastards !!!
sorry to hear this mate...
rgds hus
Sorry to hear that mate....but watch out as they may come back for more parts, like headlights, rear lights etc as they are accesible without opening the vehicle.
Consider getting a good alarm with a vibration sensor, toad to a good one which will also page you, you can set it sensitivity so any vibrations whilst touching the vehicle will set a warning alarm.
It wouldn't hve taken them more than a minute to remove the screen as they are not bonded, you only need a stanley knife to cut the rubber!
Did they cut seal with knife or do it the proper way?
New seal £100+, more than the standard screen.
Hi Shakter- just read of your troubles.... scumbags indeed . I hope you are able to find a replacement.
All the best Henry
Thanks for the replies all.
Police have taken a reference and are sending forensics around to take prints but I doubt they will be able to too much in all honesty. I'm just wating for the windscreen replacement at the moment and hopefully that will be the end of the ordeal.
Do you think I need to report the tax disc stolen to the DVLA? I was simply going to apply for a replacement.
