I really want to fit front mudflaps and side steps to stop all the crud going up the side of my truck as G’s seem to rust like a 1982 Nissan Micra, or any other Merc. So to keep the paint etc clean and chip free i think these two accesories will help

Do these two accessories go together ok? Is there any fitting problems associated with them, any sourcing tips for the parts?

Re: Front Mudflaps and Side Steps

Hello johnnytheboy,

It largely depends on what type of side steps (s/steps) you choose, that will determine if you require mudflaps m/flaps as well.

Should you want to fit both, it is possible to have, but should you choose the Mercedes Benz stainless steel s/steps (expensive ones), you do not require the m/flaps.

Fitting any other after market ones, you probably will need m/flaps.  It will basically depend upon the fitting and sealing in between the s/step and the wheel arch and the area of coverage of the foot step, whether it is complete or is it slatted, in which case it is understandable that m/flaps are mandatory.

Fitting both units will not affect the rear m/flaps; the Mercedes Benz (M/B) supplied m/flaps and its fittings will fit, but the fittings and, or the rubber flaps for the fronts might need some modifications or adaptations made; alternatively, the fronts can be home made flaps from universal cut up of rubber matting and fabricated fittings.

Hope this helps,
