Just thought I'd share the important holiday snaps! Trip was Cherbourg, Tours, Brittany 1602 miles in total. G was fab and managed to get LPG easily all over the route. I think I only had to do about 20 miles on Petrol. There are plenty of tracks in France , it is made very clear if they don't want you to drive one with signage etc and I didn't push my luck. The Loire is fabulous with plenty of access to the banks and reserve areas making combined picnics/greenlaning a pleasure. Only downer was on the early morning dash to the Roscoff ferry getting flashed by two very well hidden speed cameras! Don't know how that works, will I get French speeding tickets? I await the post with baited breath. Nice bit was the drive from the Ferry home...5 minutes.

Hi,

Nice pictures, I seems to recognise the Langeais bridge but you will confirm ... I am from Tours myself.

I get flashed all the time in France and never had anything in the post .... must have been 12 times on my lasttrip last month, cameras every where ...

Thanks for sharing

Fred

In December of last year (2010) the UK agreed to the Cross Border Enforcement Directive of Road Traffic Offences. However the good news is that in April of this year the UK decided not to opt into the scheme.

What this means is that the UK does not share the DVLA database with other EU countries for the purposes of Road Traffic Offences. However I imagine if the offence was serious enough they probably would.

In your case what the French authorities can do is use a debt collection agency to obtain your details from the DVLA ( through the normal fee payment channels) and then send you a speeding fine in the post, although I think they have now abandoned this method as most people just put it in the bin.

You are unlikely to hear anymore about the matter but be aware that the offence might be recorded on the French database. So the next time you take that vehicle to France a Gendarme might have a word with you about it and probably ask you to stump up some money.

Thanks for the replies chaps, I can now relax a tad. You're right on the bridge Fred. Tours nearly caused a divorce, navigating through it was a nightmare my wife can't read a map and my Prattnav did a good impression of a Gallic shrug when the going got tough! Road works didn't help.
