HI all just about to buy my first G-wagon tommorrow was just wondering if any could answer a few questions for me.
1 . what sort of mpg am i looking at for a 87 300gd swb .

2. and does any body know where to get military parts or bolt ons for the G-wagon.

Well according to the specs, when new you should get 14,6 / 11,7 litres/100km for city/highway on the 5 cylinder 300GD.

As for military parts, what exactly are you looking for?

I run just that one for almost eight years and averaged 22.2 mpg over all that time, doing mostly city driing but peppered with motorway and off-road use as well.

thanks guys. got my g-wagon last night, what a cracker some of you guys probabley saw her ad on ebay(black and silver with checker plate) well now i am the proud owner, as to officer mahoney it`s just a knick name i got while at school (hey it was the eighties)and it just popped into my head when i was thinking of a user name :?:

any-way i was after a new rear bumper and gear stick,any ideas on where i can get these items on the cheap.

sure was red and so were my mates hence the nic name :D

i paid 5 grand for her in the end which considering how clean she was was quite a good deal plus the guy let me have money off on a midi moto bike and paid for a nice curry for me and a mate.

i`m trying to source a military gearbox for her at the moment and going to send her to the paint shop on the tuesday as a friend of mine seems to think that he can make her look brand new.
