I hope to put a diesel engine into my 280 G Wagen, any recommendations for the best type for ease of installation.

Many Thanks

Not got it fired up yet but it does seem the Om 602 from a Sprinter is a goond idea. It is a 2.9 turbo

You will have to buy some 461 G 290 bits but apart from that and moving the turbo a little and 2 or 3 other minor items it fints in well and looks like it is meant to be there.
Also I can only assume that Sprinters are quite common in the UK.

I have some guff on this engine on CD . If you choose to go with the OM602 Option let me know

It would be wise to replace your entire exhaust and increase the pipe diameter as the Turbo Diesel would benfit from less back pressure.

Tanex,

Thanks for posting here, we've had a number of people wondering about the possibility of doing it, but no one had yet tried it.

Thanks.

Happy to help...Should have taken a photo of the G290D 461 Sump before I swapped it on the Sprinter engine. I also put on a 461/om602 intake manaifold and 461 engine mounts and brackets..
