I live at the top of 1in 6 hill, saw my farming neighbour spinning on polished show/ice 2/3rds of the way up the hill, thus blocking it, he can drive well to as he a farmer, so already had back chains on my humble non turbo G, put front chains on , reversed down all diffs locked zero wheelspin and pulled the Ford easily up the hill in 1st gear low range, all due to chains really
Almost thinking of buying a Ranger as they seem cheap, but would take a lot to pesrsuede me now
Todays over ambitious driver had a Skoda Yeti with snow tyres trying to go through ruts that I had created by coming through one way, about a foot deep, Yeti had got about 10 ft along then bellied with all four wheels off the ground. They had been stuck for 3hrs, no shovel or anything, rather them than me! Unfortunately I arrived just as 4wd tractor was struggling to pull them out, very worn tyres on ice packed snow equals no grip! Apparantly a LR had also failed. I reckon on chains this would have been easy!
