lots of tat added to what could have been a genuine lhd 1990 car to make it "a la mode" no interior shots though

Re: expensive upgrade

Complete with 500 badge.....why do folks do that??? Seems a bit pricey to me. At the end of the day it's left hooker LWB 300. And as you say, no interior shots, nice colour though.

Re: expensive upgrade

the paintwork looks good but if I were in the market for a left hooker I'd be stuffing money into Huss's hand, not this sellers

Re: expensive upgrade

Thanks Gordon, how's the engine conversions going?

To the other guys, what you regard as tat is up to you. I didn't want to keep it as a genuine 1990. There are vehicles out there for people who want to keep them as the old original. I wanted one and wanted it to look how I wanted it to look. The previous owner had let the paintwork become faded, worn out in patches, dents etc, so as I was getting it stripped, I thought i'd do it as I wanted it.

Re: expensive upgrade

Like they say in USA - make a lot of show around town but no good when you get out in the hills

$$ would have been better spent addressing the performance and fuel consumption first if you want a daily driver

Re: expensive upgrade

I have a CLS as a daily driver. Sorting out the engine etc would be next on my list, but for me I would rather spend the money on making it look nice first. If I wanted performance and fuel consumption, I would have bought a prius, not a 1990 G class.

However, saying that still, I do use this to go to work and gym etc on par with using the CLS

Just for an added bonus, got some new wheels (give some of you lot sleepless nights), so no, I don't intend to go off roading :)

Re: expensive upgrade

Nice set of wheels- Very 'Urban Chic' as you say, not one for off roading! And you a 'special, limited edition 500' I believe it was a development truck where they shoehorned a 3ltr into the G and the 500 related to the amount of hrs it took to get to 60? cheeky (sorry could not resist lol)

Good luck with the sale, any chance of seeing what the interior is like? Have a few members who do not do the forum thing and happy to send them out. You giving up on G's now or waiting for delivery of the new 63AMG?

Re: expensive upgrade

Well good luck and congratulations!  yes

Though kids sometimes follow after such an event, and nothing as safe as a G to carry them around in. Also Guarenteed, yours would be the only one on school pick up ..... wink

Just saying......

Re: expensive upgrade

I once heard a friend from SDP Graz jokingly refer to that ruffled leather look on the door lining as being  the "elephant's foreskin" effect.

As he was paying my salary at the time, I didn't like to ask him how he knew! surprise

Re: expensive upgrade

hahaha, merc always loved their ruffled foreskin look hey

Merc interiors only became good on the new generation of mercs now.

But hey, still beats that fake grey Burberry cloth effect
