Electric windows not working when the doors are shut, but works fine when a door is opened
Hello,
the most singular problem occurred to my LWB G this morning. I opened the driver's window while driving but then it wouldn't close again by using the button. I have check all other 3 buttons and non of them works. But then when I got home, opened the door and tried again... everything works fine again! It is safe to conclude that all the windows only works when one of the doors is opened.
Any idea??
Thank you in advance!

Wires between the A pillar and the door or loose multi-plug, though most probably a broken wire. This happens because of the constant flexing of the cables due to the opening and shutting of the door. Also I never set door mirrors to auto fold in on W203 and W211 for a similar reason.

I would check the fuses as I think it uses a differant power supply when the doors are open allowing you to put the windows up when the ignition is turned off for when you forget to put them up when leaving the car..
Hi
Corrosion affects the push button switches in the door pillars which have various functions..remove gently so as not to catch the wires and pull them off the spade connections they may drop down inside the pillar...clean with a solution of water and bicarbonate of soda until contacts are bright then allow to dry before applying a very light smear of petroleum jelly (vaseline) and re installing
Clean that car of yours man!
It's probably all that Coke you drink all over the console! he he he
Hope all is well mate.

Yes you're right! Fuse 17 (20A) is out... that is for the radio, the air bag and the central control.
