Re: electric windows

 Hello Stevo,

Unfortunately, the regulators are different in more than one way so it is not possible to harvest any part to use or adapt.

On the same topic, I am, or have been discussing the same matter with another member who has managed to locate a supplier of the wormed cable. The cable is sold by a minimum length which is sold by a minimum length which is in excess of what you need to do just one repair.

To effect the repair, you will need to disassemble the cable and gear housing and refabricate it, alternatively after disassembly remove the worm cable and swap ends so the worn area will now be at the other end hopefully giving you a workable part of the cable.

If you want, I can try and find out the cable supplier.

Re: electric windows

The motors themselves are fitted to lots of cars golf mk1 for instance. Just search eBay for the Bosch number on the motor

Re: electric windows

I know they are not " genuine" but at the price these have to be worth a go.....

Re: electric windows

Try getting quotes from different M/Benz dealers. Dealers now a days are no  longer bound to charge the recommended retail price but have freedom to charge from a set range. Armed with local knowledge, i.e. name of another local dealer, at your next enquiry if they quote a silly price, bluff the dealer claiming you can get a lower price from that other dealer; see if they are willing to match that price.

Do not feel shy of haggling, the worst that will occur is they will refuse.

 Hi Stevo,

Would you want to give your chassis details and state which side of the regulator your are seeking?

Re: electric windows

A number of years ago I rebuilt my electric window regulator. I dismantled the regulator and turned the flexible cable through 180*. That end of the cable had no wear. I then got a new gear cut and reassembled it all. Worked perfectly. I wrote an article  for the G wizz magazine.
Let me know if you are interested and I'll see what I can dig up

Re: electric windows

Steve,
The cable was worn to excess so I swapped it end to end. The cable is fixed to the backing plate with a spot welded bracket. Drill out the spot welds and it comes apart. Then reweld with the cable swappped.
The gear is secured under a cover which is also spot welded in place. Same deal, drill out and relace cable and gear. Reweld.
I arranged with B&H gears to cut a dozen or so gears on the promise that mclub members might buy them. I have no idea if he ever sold any or even has them still. Give him a call if your gear is shot.
Mine worked a treat and obviously is cheaper than a new regulator
