bit of an oddball car, looks like a 617 diesel to me and age wise I say early 80's
Hi
two batteries and round voltmeter so 24 volt ... looks to be a 617 engine... old style steering wheel ...dash with rocker switchers so 80/82 on the year ....Mtex interior. rubber floor covering might have an interesting history???
Have asked seller for vin no.
Militare build
v = rpm
small km....nice
What, in the red at 2900rpm ?
Volt meter .? It's a rev counter ! Also what's the yellow indicator to the right of the front diff lock light and above hazard indicator? Unusual, a fan of some sort, there's not much on it to indicate military spec accessories! Although an unusual plug on wing just in front of brake master cylinder.
The unusual symbol warning light is called Combustion Controller on the EPC and it only lists as fitted to W461 chassis types. The only 2400mm short wheel base model i can find with it fitted is a mid 90's 290GD in German Army spec. Chassis number would tell all....The vendor says its a 290GD which would make it a OM602 but clearly its a OM617 fitted and badged as a 300GD? Interesting. It looks like it may be to do with an additional heater? Not sure...
The bracket and Plug on the Left hand inner wing is i believe a Jump Start Plug Socket in military spec.
It is WDB46033217043601 for you all to look up
That chassis number although a W460 300GD SWB baumuster and is LHD steering.
The serial number does not exist to a WDB 460 332 17 type on German EPC or VeDoc systems
Either its wrong or just a bit suspect?
Hi

The symbol in question is an additional heater that appears to be controlled from some additional switches in the centre of the dash. It also has Front and Rear Diff Locks, Brakes with Fording Abilities, and one piece Rear Bumper.
Looks like a good project for somebody……….
Hi
If you look at pic of engine bay there appears to be an electrical connector with a screw cap close to where the jack would be stowed and at the far side front additional equipment attached to the coolant circulation system could that be a mains electric night heater for the coolant.!!?? .bearing in mind it was built for Denmark as a Military use vehicle ordered from Graz by the Danish Mercedes main dealer ....
Am a bidder on this one..dont want to run it up ...plenty of rust....could do with a lhd chassis +V5....wd sell engine/box sensible £ to member pm me or 07802846761 TB

Hi
MB List twin 12v 88ah or 12v 90ah
Retail £103.00 ea + vat should easily get a pair from MB for less than £200 all in with a 2 year warranty.
They are however nothing special
I will try on Monday to get you some physical measurements for them as i am sure we carry them for Vario van range and they are very similar to the Vito albiet only singular.

Hi Gav
this is a 24v military system so two 12v batteries in series BUT they must fit the tray..I see in the pics two battery clamps so best idea would be to approach a battery supplier and measure the dims / post locations to fit within the profile of the tray and the clamps. they look about the size of 50/55amp which would give about the same output as the standard T6 military 12volt ( big square one)
Hi Tony
The listings i have given you are for the twin 12v in series type batteries the same as fitted on a Vario which most are 24v.
That is the exact same part number battery that is listed for your G the only difference is the batteries when fitted to a Vario are
just side by side in a purpose built tray. In the G they are i think in an L format to try to fit in the G's existing tray as per pics on EPC
Hope that makes sense
