Hello

My dashboard lights ie the speedo ,clock and rev counter have suddenly stopped working. Immediate thought was the fuse but my diff lock switch lights and the washer switch are still illuminated and are on the same fuse (F10, 7.5A) so it obviously isn't the fuse if that is the case. However fuse F13 (10A) is supposed to be the one that works the clock, presumably not the lighting for it.

Could it be a dodgy connection instead. Everything else works fine

Have you tried fiddling with the dimer? That often causes the problem

As I can not exactly remember; I am hoping that you should have a backlight dimmer switch which could be of a wheel type which one turns to brighten or dim back lighting. This could be mounted either side of the steering column but certainly near the dash or incorporated with the trip meter reset button; this you have to push down and holding it down, at the same time twist to brighten or dim the back light.

If I am wrong, I'll be scratching me bum like that famous picture of  pretty tennis player without her Knickers no pants on.

You got sorted Minxy?

Dimmer / Potentiometer is A000 542 38 25 £22.50 + VAT MB UK

May know of either a new one or a know good used one if you need.

You need to pull the dash pod out but easy to swop once you have done that....

I can lend you the pullers for the dash when M******* posts them back....subtle hint wink wink

....and lo and behold, there was light....

That is such a girlie thing to do, isn't it? Go into a panic because someone had fiddled with the dimmer.

Thanks to both Roly and Rakesh for pointing that out to me!

All happy now, apart from the fact I need that bloody ding on the roof sorted out as no paintless company will touch it, as apparentlly the roof has been painted before (which I had no idea about)
