Ok, So I have a decision to make... I am am considering taking the repairs to my 280GE one step further and getting a respray in a new colour.  It is currently a brownish gold but the body needs a bit of tlc so it seems like a good time to have it done.

I intend to keep the arches/ light surrounds etc black- as they should be on a 460, i think, but what colour for the body?

I love needamerc's green one but i don't just want to do a copy cat!  It is that classic but modern look i would like to achieve.

Anyone seen any colours they would think would go great on a 460??

Colour choice is a personal issue, so it is you who should decide.
Have a look at this site, it may inspire you.  Is yours a LWB or SWB?  Have you clear or tinted glass or intend to have darken rear glass?

Re: Colour Change Ideas

 Hi Rakesh,

Its a SWB.  If it was a LWB I would have it in a storm Grey or the Merc Blue/Black colour however I dont think the SWB 460 looks as good in those colours.

I realise its a personal choice but to make a choice i was looking for some insparation... there are so few G's on the road it hard to say "thats the colour I want".  I thought it would also be a good thread for people to post loads of pics for us GWOA members to critique!!

I would like to make it an original merc colour from the time- 1989- or something that is sympathetic to the vehicle.

If it was my choice I would go with a vynle wrap in white camo but it would be rather contraversial!!

I would have thought contraversial would be good, but you have managed to plant a seed in my mind which is itching, not fully grown yet. From your thread you mentioned that the head light surrounds and wheel arches will remain black, now, learning that you have a SWB; my tendancy is to go for a darker shade of green.

I can not remember where I noticed it, but I came across Irish Green which looked appealing, it could even be on the next URL, I am sending.

I reckon the SWB proportioning and dark wheel arches and headlight surrounds would contrast well with the darker green colour, sounds arty-farty, but I haven't a clue on art.

Re: Colour Change Ideas

Hi

My apologies if i duplicate here but i cant open Pistonhead's link.

I have listed

IRELAND DARK GREEN METALLIC  COLOUR CODE 808 OR 6808

IRELAND MIDDLE GREEN METALLIC  COLOUR CODE 886 OR 6886

The first one would fit your bill of Classic but Modern as MB have used it from 70's until 00's

The second is maybe 70's to 80's

Both are nice in my opinion but it is very specific to your choice.

Hope this helps
