I have a 1983 460 in the front floor pan there are the holes to get to the chassis bolts, these are covered by push in plastic covers. I need to replace these but no part numbers on them and several long visits to the local Merc shop have been fruitless, I think we've been through every diagram with no luck! Anyone got a parts number please?

Hi
Boxes of assorted rubber gomments can be bought from car parts suppliers GSG or Europarts  .you will find the right sized ones to fit these holes within the range ....

Re: Chassis bolthole covers

Thanks Peter I thought you'd have the answer. I'll give the number a try. The holes in my G are 26mm and filled with plastic caps. Merc provided all sizes of gromet, but none big enough. Next time I will be more careful when I remove covers......just in case! I'll let you know if its the right part number, others must have had this problem.

I don't know if this helps - they are Body Plugs rather than Chassis but it might give you an idea.

Re: Chassis bolthole covers

Hello Grendle,

Can you provide photos?  How many of these grommets are fitted to the vehicle (That is not asking, How many you need, but How many fitted in total, as you can say?).  Please indicate location on the floor.

My parts search comes up with part no: A 460 997 08 81, it could be the number has been super seeded to read .....10 81, as Fixwing's thread, has suggested. The only query I have of the item listed, that only a quantity of "one" is indicated, which can not be right.  There are no dimensions given to the grommet.

Cheers,

Re: Chassis bolthole covers

The covers for the chassis floors are far more like

EPC on page 1 of Body-> 68 Covering and Linings -> 030 Expansion plugs
A460 997 08 81 = Grommet Tunnel Shell.. it is item 17
A460 997 10 81 = Grommet Floor .. it is item 5 .. also listed as tow wiring plug.

My money is on A460 997 08 81 and it looks like this;
http://www.eurotruck-importers.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1_77&products_id=1074
But that is not for a 25mm hole that you claim to have .. mine was this bigger beast.

I have replaced them and I had to ask on here before to get the part number.. think German Ebay had them too. Search will not let  me find the posting.. and EPC is no use.. somewhere I will have a receipt but then I have lots of those for grommets etc!!

Try German Ebay first then.
