Hi All,

Brake pipe sprung a leak today - thankfully not an emergency situation but made for a careful drive home...Pipe is part of pair that pass from drivers side to passengers side below rad on chassis). Do I start trying to bend new pipe (done some other bits but definately still amateur), or buy pre-formed replacement? If latter, where from/cost/part number please! Need to do job quickly - thoughts please?

Cheers,

Stewart

Hi Stewart

I think your best option is to either make them yourself or have a garage knock them up for you.

The EPC picture is near impossible to work out the correct ones even if it showed you where they ran.

All the ones that is lists MBUK do have in stock, but they range between £25 and £30 + vat each.

They usually come made to the right length obviously but are straight and they are also made from Steel which make them harder to bend without kinking etc.

You will probably get a full roll of Copper / Cunifer pipe for £10 plus a few quid for some ends and it is much easier to shape and also to flare if you have a good flaring tool.

I have a brake pipe bender and flaring tool if your stuck

Gav,

Thanks for comments. Decided what better to do on a Sunday evening... flared and fitted (the bleddin' 6x clips or whatevber called (pipe securing tabs?) on chassis are bugger to reach, prize open and then re-close!?! Not yet bled so wait and see if my flaring was up to the job (have a kit but the flaring cone is bobbbinsangry).

Hey ho, Monday moring and now back at my desk thinking need a day off to get some of the other jobs done (shocks and engine mount to replace, switch on electric fan and not to mention rear door hanging off...). Hopefully be able to stop by tonight though.
