Snapped at the catch end. How do I open the bonnet? and then where do I find a new cable (1991 463)?

Re: Bonnet release cable

Hello Graham,

With a struggle.  You need to remove the engine guard plate and working from underneath the vehicle, try and adapt some purchase on the latch's lever to release the bonnet latch.

Alternatively, try the same from the grille area - difficult.  Working from the grille does cause damage; OK, if you resign to the fact that you are prepared to buy a new grille (Expensive replacement).

Best to persevere from working from underneath the engine.

The cable is a dealer part only.

Good luck,

Regards,

From the front grill, feed a piece of coat-hanger type wire (or thinner) to and around the bonnet cable attachment point, then get a pair of plyers onto the wire and pull.

I tried the push method with a longish screwdriver and a tap from a hammer - went straight past the catch and through the radiator - expensive..
