Bad vibration between 50 and 70
Has any one else experienced bad vibration between 50 and 70 ???
Or has any one got any ideas as to where to look??
It's not wheel wobble..
A little more detail may help Lenny
Is is in any gear, or just at certain revs?
Only in corners etc.
If you're sure it is not wheel wobble (i assume you mean wheels out of balance) then propshaft UJ's are the next favorite i think

Hi Lenny,
Silly I know, but I once when off roading in some clay and experianced the same thing once I was back on the road, I found a big clump of clay that had stuck to the inside of the wheel, scraped it off and all was OK.
Failing that do what Gav says.

If it's something you feel through the seat and the floor it could well be propshaft trouble. The 460 SWB rear is particularly prone because of the angles the u.j. works through at either end.
Rakesh has written a really good article about this and it's on the front page. Follow his advice and you should be able to find it.
Enclosed in the link is that article.
steering damper is notorius for wobble at just these speeds
Agree with steering damper / dampener / dampner comment.
They usually have a lifespan of 20,000 miles on the W463 trucks.
It would be lovely if people posted the type of G and year of construction in their signature or profile on this forum.
Sounds like the propshaft. Unless there's some movements at the joints or the centre sliding joints it's difficult to find and awkward to repair properly other than replacing the shaft. A repair might balance, or might not, usually not.
You could try pumping grease into all three grease points, say on the front shaft first, and try it and see if there's any difference, and then the back shaft three points. It's unlikely to be the small shaft between the gearbox/transfer box, but try greasing them anyway. If they haven't been greased recently or often enough you might find it does the trick, but don't hold you breath.
It could be your short prop shaft from the gearbox to transfer box?
These have the nipples on each end - pump grease in the areas needed and see if that helps.
Steering damper most definatley.
I have a used on for sale if needed with only 70k on it if needed.
I fourth the steering damper vote.
Had this for a while before a simple steering damper restored peace - 15 minute job, no need to even jack up the G and under £100 part.
If it was the steering damper it would be coming through the steering, like a tank slapper on a motorbike, it sounds much mor like propshaft vibration, is the G a diesel with the torsional vibration damper on the rear prop, if so this may be siezed I have 4 Diesel Gs here and every one is siezed solid. I stripped mine down and cleaned and greased it, this reduced the vibes on mine.... might be worth a try

No the wheels are balanced. As for gear 3 or 4 as its a auto.
i will have a look at the uj's and report back.
Any thing to look for when looking at the uj's??
