Afternoon

Has anyone found a good aftermarket replacement steering wheel for a 1988 W460? My steering wheel is all shiny and slippery and i was thinking along the lines of a Momo style black leather one.

I would like to stick with the same diameter - also am i right in assuming that a W124 boss will fit?

Regards,

James

Re: Aftermarket Steering Wheel

you are unlikely to find a Momo as large as the standard wheel

yeah - i borrowed one from a mate to try for size but it looked rather silly and not very practical; was wondering if anyone had found something more suitable.

Re: Aftermarket Steering Wheel

I fitted a smaller diameter aftermarket BBS leather wheel which came with the correct Mercedes boss for my 463.

I prefer the smaller wheel because it gives a less bus/truck feel to the steering. The downside is it obscures the top of the speedo and if my power steering ever failed it would probably be impossible to turn the wheel.

In reply to original thread:

You may want consider steering wheel covers, they are cheaper, less hassle locating and fitting an after market s/wheel.

In the past, I have come across some great web-sites for after market s/wheels showing wood/leather finishes like the ones fitted to the G500, but I cannot seem to find those sites any longer.
