Thats a nice looking truck, it doesn't have any rear seats though. Why do you need a/c in Denmark, its only warm a couple of weeks in the year it hardly seems worth it?wink

Air conditioning need not just be a Summer thing. They are effective in Winter; due to the dehumidifier fitted, this can help keep a clear windscreen and depending on how long it is used, keep windows demisted.

Yes, it is possible to air condition this model but question is finding a Kit. Do you mind a roof mounted one like in Motor homes or similar or are you insistent on a dash console mounted version?

I have fitted an aftermarket 'Diavia' under dash unit [thx ,Fixwin]

These were a dealer fit option on 460's.

Very demanding to retro fit a factory a/c dash.

Engine compressor straight foward fit on any 6** engine...get from scrapyard ,block is drilled for cradle.

I used condensor radiator and fans from E300...you may need to extend grille foward to do this.

Diavia now owned by Eberspacher...new kits very expensive.[Also the agents want to fit for you $$$]

New American hot rod/custom car units cheap from Ebay usa but of indifferent quality

Italian/Spanish 'motorhome' kits which are roof mounted work well [nNOT mickey mouse water evaporator type]

My final comment - you must really want to do it ,you must be technically competant and allow for big money in parts if using new -unlikely you will get anyone interested to do it for you.I was lucky to get an old underdash unit from a club member and some help from the local a/c man who gassed the system after trouble shooting my installation

Having air conditioning fitted is not a major issue to the vehicle, what is an issue is the air conditioning housing to accommodate the an original kit fitting. This is only a dealer item and I have not checked to see if still available. On the whole the whole exercise is, at a guesstimate likely to cost some £3500 - £4000 parts and labour.

It may be economical to have a roof mounted unit, but bearing in mind the G-Wagen stands at some 1.9 meters high you will have to contend with a small additional height. I include two URL's for your study. You could try to get air conditioning housings from the Mercedes Benz recycling center in Germany but I find the site relatively useless when it come to G-Wagen parts.

There are some American vintage sites that do add on vent outlets attached under the dash but on a W463 I think would look cumbersome.

I have not checked to see if roof mounted a/conditioners have dehumidifiers to enable window demisting. Or if these can be mounted on the rear tail gate door.

Good Luck.
