Has anybody used or have experience of companies who will repair the ABS ECU from my G.
My G fails ABS self-Test after Start-Up. ABS warning light omes on and reverts to standard non-ABS.
Have had a working ECU from another G tested in my Car and it worked fine.

Re: ABS ECU Repairers Help

 Hello Marko,

What you have done is fine; although there may seem no point in it but have you tried your ECU on the donor vehicle to see if your ECU fails on the donor vehicle?

Not having any experience or reports on such companies, I am unable to comment.

I have no doubt of their abilities to reconditioning your unit but my concern is. When your unit is with these companies, it becomes a matter of trust.  Can you trust what they claim. In these difficult conditions of business, will they repair the fault or do more or charge more than the actual fault?  They will naturally give warranty of the work they do and it is in their interest to make sure the unit does not fail therefore it could be better for them to do more than fix the fault to ensure the unit does not fail, therefore this means higher cost of repair. So, if you do not mind paying for a reconditioning, that is fine but in earnest who knows what the actual repair cost could have been?

Yes my ECU failed in Donor Vehicle.

I hear what you are saying but I don't have much choice really.
I have a company who will charge £35 to look at it. Then will take it from there. They said normally £150-£175 + Vat.    They just not sure they can fix as they have no experience of my ECU Model- which is no suprise as the  G is so rare, and was the case when trying other companies also.   So probably worth a punt I think, as it will cost a fortune for 2nd user one,  which will have no guarantee to work in my vehicle.  And the price from MB is I imagine astronomical.

I have a Saab that had its abs ecu rebuilt by a place in Ilkeston, or thats what the receipt says, I think they offer a lifetime guarantee, can't remember name will look up, but google ECU testing in Ilkeston( Derbyshire) and give them a bell, I presume its a basic system on a 463,

I bit obvious, I know, but have you tried any breakers yards. There are quite a few on-line breakers; bound to be someone breaking a suitable G somewhere.

For example: http://www.breakerlink.com/lookup-store.php
