Yee Har!
After 7 weeks at the Garage( I only had it for about 4 weeks) I had half forgotten that I actually had a G wagon.
So yesterday, I made the 2 hour journey to Cumnock to pick it up.
Alan Gibson at Gibson Autos knows his stuff and I was lucky a leak from the Head gasket was spotted while it was there. Thank You Alan.

www.gibsonsautos.co.uk/Page1850.htm

New rear Springs, new Head Gasket and Head skim, new Timing chain(timing was significantly  out) new exhaust( so nice and quiet now), Starter replaced, several hoses replaced, Distributor drive replaced, oil leak sorted, and Plugs, filters, Oil and several other jobs etc.

Just the ABS to sort but, the good news there, is  that,  the ABS fault was traced to faulty Controller(ECU). . They had another G with same ECU in at same time, so swapped ECUs and fault disappeared and ABS worked fine with other ECU. So will try to get the ECU repaired and Just run without it plugged in meantime. Saw a couple of ECU's on ebay a few weeks back but far too expensive. I'm hoping it can be repaired by one of the chaps who used to repair Monitors and Motherboards for my PC biz.

Great to get it back and it is  definitely running better. I imagine it lost a few Horses with the timing being out. Just a lot more pleasant to be in now exhaust has been extended to mimic OE one.

A significant snowfall for some fun is what I want now. :)

Are you driving that light green truck I have seen around ???

 Thank you guys.

Thanks Fred for recommending Gibson Auto Services.  It's a bit of a trek but worth it as 4x4 is what he does.  Obviously knows G's as he uses one in competitions. Seeing  another two  G Wagons at Gibsons was  also reassuring as I haven't seen any  anywhere sinced I've owned mine. My G has been in and around Edinburgh several times Fred  but is  dark green.

Thanks to you also Gav - your help, knowledge and encouragement has been fantastic.
and thanks to everyone else who has given me advice during my first months of G ownership.
