Proceed with caution when leaving your 463 for an MOT test, on no account must it go on the traditional rolling road brake test, I am sure this caused my speedo drive to fail when this happened, could be co incidental, but I daren't take the chance. Also another member had same failure under same circumstances. Insist it goes out on the road with the older Tachometer ( Box Thingy ) on the floor, after all there is a sticker that says no rolling road unless propshaft disconnected?

Tester insisted it was fine for full time 4x4, I still insist on the tach test, even Imprezzas use that.

The real issue is if you have LSD (Limited slip differentials) fitted. Then you get a cross torque on the axles as you test only the one wheel and that can cause the LSD to lock and then break the LSD. Mazda MX-5 of a certain era do that. On 4x4 this may or may not be a problem but you will be testing out the diff's as they will be spinning at 100% to one shaft. Mind you my MOT place does the driving/wieght tester on my 2x4 460 ... no complaining as it means the back brakes can be less than optimium.

It always amused me when the tester would drive it over the rolling road to test the handbrake then would be unable to drive it off. I showed him how to engage the centre locker and it was fine afterwards...always good to stay around while they do the MoT...find a friendly garage that doesn't mind if possible.
