Have to replace my 300GE's water pump. I have the replacement, but a bit daunted is there a drill to do this?

Cheers

Hello Paul,

http://www.peachparts.com/Wikka/M103WaterPump  (G-Wagens is similar)

Check the above link.  I advise renewal of water hose between head and water pump and its clips as a matter of course unless already new. Keep the old hose as a spare.

Reason: should the old hose burst prematurely (never heard of it happening) you would have to remove pump to replace that hose so to avoid the possibility of duplicating your work, I suggest automatic renewal.

On occasions I have found it difficult to remove the pump unless I removed the inlet manifold or in some cases loosen it.

I tried removing one once off a 300GE and got no where after a few hours, as Pistonhead suggests perhaps I should have loosened the inlet manifold.

do a compression check too as you may need a new cylinder head gasket, I was losing fluid and the obvious place was a water stained pump but it wasn't guilty
