Anyone know what the standard tyres for my car were? Its a '91 300GDS on 16" alloys.

Now that I've got some extra power, I've decided I don't need the 325 75 16 muds any more, so I would like to go back to standard.

I will also shorty put up for sale my 1 year old ORC 2" lift springs, to pay towards a standard hight ORC set (Never Merc springs again).

I have 4 x 285 16 muds, 4 x 325 16 muds and 2x 225 AT's free to pick up. All tyres are more than 1/2 threat left, Available as soon as I have fitted the new tyres, but if intersested let me know, or else they will get skipped.

Tyre sizes from the manual.
What's wrong with MB springs? why are ORC ones better?

Roly

I have broken a total of 5 MB springs, and all 4 my 460's and this 463 had broken springs when I got them. They are ok for road use, but if you load the car and go off road you WILL break them.

Thanks for the list, it seems like my car came out with the 205's, that is what is on the spare, but I couldn't believe it. I think I am going to go for 265/70 16 BF G's. they have a side wall size of 185 mm, and compared to the 174mm of the 205's it should be a nice drive(11mm bigger) At the moment my tyres have a side wall of 244mm, 70 mm bigger, meaning my overall tyre is 6" bigger than original. No wonder I wanted a stronger engine!

I am on my second set now, different cars, and they are superb.

I would strongly recommend the 235/85R16s that I have fitted to my G. They are sufficiently tall and yet the engine can pull that gearing.

What engine have you fitted Christo?

Is the old 603 dead?

Re: 463 300 GDS standard tyres

Russ - I've fitted a OM606 N/A with 136bhp, but having some electric issues. My G has 4 wires going to the diesel pump, but the new one needs 6. Everybody everywhere said it is straight forward, but there is a whole list of modifications. Waterpump needs to be modified, engine block needs new threaded holes and others closed up, new bracket made for the AC pump, sump shanged, new exhaust to match up with the manifold, air intake wrong side..... All of these were ok, but the wires are getting my wires all crossed at the moment. I've been struggling with it for more than a week now.

The set of 325 tyres are gone, and the 285's and springs have both got options on, I also have a perfet OM603 engine for free if anyone is interested. (2 engines, but 1 is tired)

Regards
Christo

 Jesus, nice tyre choice.
BTW, your car is looking remarkably dry :-)

I’ve always liked the sound of that transplant but no engine swap is ever as simple as people make out

I would have thought that the electrical connections were for idle stabilisation only so it should run without any connections?

I was in your part of the world Monday but didn’t have time to call. I’ll give you a ring next time, maybe next week.

Good luck

Russ
