nice isn't it, looks like a w461 part time 4x4 but with lots of very desirable and expensive options
Hi
If you can get the VIN from Beck Evans i can see what i can find out, send me a PM.
They have had a few G's for sale recently...
They seem to be strong money, but from a viewing another member had on a £30K G500 it was not presented as well as it could have been, i would recommend you view and take a G knowledgable person with you, i understand it is 10 years old but for £25K it needs to be straight...
There are one or two members in that area that may offer to view with you, if you post a request

anyone been and had a test drive and look round..? looks very nic ein the pictures but these are low resolution.. BR Dave
Must say from a dealer perspective, they do keep the cars in very good condition interior wise, I have not seen this one, but did see the 500 they had, was not that impressed with the supporting paperwork for the price they were asking for it. Very disspaointed member as on the pics it was a nice motor!
The 290D - first a great colour and the BEST colour you can get a G in! Built in 1999 for Jamaica it was a cancelled order that was then sold to G wagon UK (Max McArthur) in 1992. I believe the speedo was replaced at 4200 miles and acording to my intel total of 3 services last in 2005.One MB service @ 8000 miles. My concern to any member considering this is that it has the usual limited use poor servicing problems and if it has a KAT there could be issues with the 'sooting up', expensive to replace the KAT's and the issues of how long its been 'standing', however as a “one off” specification with rubber floor covering and the additions its a nice find, personal opinion it priced a tad high (no running boards) - but I am not good with oil burners I would have said around the £19-21K.

Spider is right...£20k plenty as she is a little plain [ but practical ]
Really its a 95-2000 sprinter engined 461...great trouble free drive train good for a million kliks BUT
around 125 bhp @ flywheel + auto + 2.5 tonnes = not very exciting on the road
Unlike M pumped engines this 602 rotary is harder to fettle but can be chipped to 140 bhp
You really need 150+ to enjoy driving at this weight
However one of the last of the greats and should last a lifetime
I viewed the G 290 today - my offer was declined :0(
here's my impression:
The paint work is in very good condition and is a lovely colour, there are some has some scuffs and marks here and there but there is no sign of rust bubbles on any of the panels. the plastic trims are all as new. All the sills and rubbers around doors are in very good order.
Theres no obvious rust anywhere and the underneath, arches etc are all in great condition. The underneath sealant is in good condition.
Fuel cap as new.
The interior is as new except for the steering wheel which is very worn on the right of the wheel?
Electric windows work.
The seats are as new as, is the floor matting and headlining are are very comfortable! The arm rests are nice!
the jumop seats are as new.
no sign of any corrosion around rear door of below between rear bumper.
The doors are quite stiff to close - is this because they have not been used much and are not worn in?
Engine bay - reasonably clean - diesel poss oil on side of engine block joins? Starts on the button.
Front grills/ cooling fans all very clean without impact damage. Bull bars spotless.
Tires still very chunky.
indicator lenses cloudy/ dirty inside?
A proper good clean and this vehicle would look a million dollars
alloys pretty good a few dings here and there though.
kind regards Dave
Hi Dave,
Thanks for the update - did you see the black G500 they had a few weeks back or has that sold? I think if you offered around the number Tony and I posted then they should not have got that miffed, though with the up and coming reg change maybe they are holding out?
Shame - would be good to see such a nice color car in the fold

hi spider the 500 was still there but not my thing i'm into the agricultural feel of the older g's. I also went over service history which is limited even so cosmetically its lovely.
Interesting - looks as if they are trying to hold out for their price. Personally speaking I think both are asking top money, yet don;t have top paper work and prov. to warrant the price. Sadly they will probably sell it at that price to a new owner and we will end up with them on the forum with a list of things to be done to bring it up to scratch.
And what do you mean a 500 is not your 'thing' (gasp) a 500 is EVERYBODY's thing! The raw power, the reassuringly thump of the V8 and the smooooooth acceleration past the tipple digits... the satanic smell of proper fuel

.. i agree.. i have been advised by another gwoa member it will need preventative and remidial work to get it up to scratch as had not been mechically looked after. I like the 500 motor but not the pimp look :0)
Finally have this as my first G :0). My thank you's go to Gavin, Pete at GWagen and Peter Newman for their considerable time and superb technical support/ advice on this purchase. I also thank this excellent forum which as a serial haunter of forums this is one of the best. The vehicle is superb and best of all the missus and kids approve! very best regards Dave
Thanks Spider i'm in North Hertfordshire i'm sure to attend next GWOA meet. cheers Dave
