My G had a retro aircon unit fitted on purchase in 1983.

my mechanic removed the box in the cabin and left a gaping hole 'twat' with out me knowing.

I want to see if the original unit works as the retro unit worked off of a two speed switch installed to the right if the steering column.

the original switch is not connected as there are only two wires connected behind it and a loose tied off brown wire is behind so I'm guessing it the missing wire from the switch. Where is the fuse or perhaps the rest of the main power is in the loom by the battery. Any help or advice will be grateful as no blower.

cheers

What box exactly are you talking of?

Have you any original paper work to your vehicle? The early W460 did had after market air conditioning fitted but from a dealer level.

The kit available at the time was manufactured by Diavia, now folded. A large distributor box was added on at the bottom of the centre console. Have you the hard ware of the air conditioning intact? The compressor, condenser, exchanger, fan etc?

Your chassis number could be of help to gain some info.

 Hi

thanks for the reply.

the box was removed it was actually fitted by Mercedes and was a model by 'Realistic' I've seen the same unitin the old classic mustangs of the 70's any how this unit was removed by the mechanic and apparently disposed of.

The original heater is all there I will try to get the vin number later.

thank you for the time

cheers

Actually all the rest of the aircon system is in tact. All the wiring is still in situ.

Im not bothered about the aircon unit. May be one day will re install a system but for now I want to test my blower motor.

the switch is swirled up correctly and the violet coloured cable is actually wired into the fuse board and is still pert of the ignition system. But I am sure to have installed the aircon they would have disconnected the original unit somewhere just not sure where to look.

Cheers
