Yellow Engine Light (Engine Check Light) ECL
Hi I have a 2011 G 350 diesel. The yellow / orange
engine light has come on today, Does anybody know what I should be looking for? The engine oil is fine, same with coolant. Engine runs okay with no loss of power.
Anybody have any ideas? Manual says could be engine management, fuel injection system, exhaust system, fuel system, diesel particulate filter.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.

So called Check Engine Light (CEL). If you cycle through Comand, I think it should tell you what the problem is, under faults.
My bet would be anything to do with AdBlue and NOX sensors. Though that also starts counting down the number of starts you have left o:
If that doesn't tell you, get a Bluetooth OBD code scanner and see what faults the ECU has logged with that, or take it to a MB indie for a STAR diagnosis. The OBD port is in the passenger footwell.
Not my specialist subject
But I think the Adblue heater unit is located in the top of the Adblue Tank with the Delivery Module
So would think the wiring connections are within 6" of it and fully exposed to everything thrown at it from the road!

Jd. I just purchased an OBD scanner. .....
The plug is universal, you can run many Apps that connect to it (bluetooth). Some are professional level and cost money but the freebie I use which is pretty handy is TorqueScan (by Ian Hawkins). You will find it in the AppStores. It seems able to reset basic CEL errors, and you wouldn't want to mask anything more serious anyway. It will list the ECU faults, if any, and give you something to research to Map to a MB issue. But it also gives you great dials and graphs for boost pressue, NOX, temps, averages, etc etc.
Interested if anyone else recommends another tool...
Thank Jdring. Much appreciated.
