Wiper Motor
Hmmmm still administering the medicine here !
I have replaced the wiper motor in the W460 rhd lwb (280ge)
Can anyone send me a phoograph of the position that the assembly sits in at rest ?
It is located behind the glove box.
The set up of this appears critic as my wipers keep falling off the screen !!!
Many thanks,
Neil.
Hi Neil
Would adjusting the wiper arms on the spindles when the motor has stopped and should be in "park" position help?
Hi Neil
You need to let the motor "park" then loosen the nut on the motor so that the arm is loose on the motor, then put the wipers in the park position, then retighten the nut, it may take a couple of goes to get it spot on
Hope that helps
It is very easy to over tighten these. Having a conical shaft to attach to means the (through the physics which I cannot explain) shaft require little toque to tighten as some how there seems to be acting a servo force which amplifies the actual torque applied.
I do not suppose you will have a torque wrench for the small torque required.
I suggest when the nut bottoms out as you use your spanner to screw on, from the point of the bottoming out and by that I mean it will not turn any more without applying more pressure to force it to turn, turn further by at least a quarter turn and that should be sufficient for the wiper arm. May be that would be a tad tight.
Hi Panzer,
I tried that mate but they still fall off the bottom of the screen.
Seems they are going down lower then returning up a bit when stopping . Spooky stuff !
