Prompted by Spiders previous thread on G Fever, it got locked as I tried to provoke a debate and I'm just shooting the breeze, I thought I might write up my thesis on an OCD related topic and specifically 'The impact that the G Wagon obsession has had on individual relations'. Essentially, I'm wondering what impact or influence has your other half had on your view of the G Wagon. I suspect that there is a lot of right brain individuals on this forum who are logically orientated in thinking process and at times find vague non meaningful comments difficult to understand.

Examples include;

1. You care more about that f'..ing G than you do me.

2. If you like that G so much, why don't you sleep with it.

3. You should sell it and buy me a new fridge at Harvey Norman. You should get the price of a fridge for it.

4. Why don't you talk to your precious G Wagon.

5. There is no way I'm getting in the front of that..

6. Its too high, I can't get out of it I might break my heels.

7. Another waste of money.

8. It rattles a lot..

9. Stop listening to those anoraks

10. Im not going on holiday in a G Wagon.

Please feel free to add to the list...

Re: The wife and the G.

In reply to the Honorable member from Ireland.

First I asked for the thread to be locked and made a sticky and to keep it there with out any comments so it would not lose it 'impact'. I did a thread a while back, but speaking with a new member, he had fun reading it, but lost the message reading the other 25 posts on the thread! Some were good, but some did dilute it a bit. So I thought for the G Fever one I would try not to lose the impact. The comments given, are great and support what is said - all be it in a humorous way.

Second - I am sorry to hear about the 'troubles' and hope all has now sorted out. This may be a bit late in the case stated above, - this is what I came back to my Mrs about my G when ALL of the above was mentioned in various conversations......

I can spend the money on the G - which benefits everyone in the family, provides fun away days, gets the kids to school in all weathers, is safe and secure......  or I can spend it on your two gorgeous sisters in a debased weekend once a month.....? You choose.

Still have the G laugh and no more conversation about changing it....

Mrs IanA2 loves the G.

I nearly bought a blue SL60 a few years ago. I traveled a long way  to see it, loved it and gave him a deposit, That evening he phone me saying that his wife was furious and he couldn't sell it!!.

Re: The wife and the G.

My wife is very much the same with my Land Rovers, virtually the same comments, although she doesn't mind me wheeling-dealing to buy parts, as long as it doesn't affect the mortgage payments and food shopping

When I got the 460 home, she said "it makes your landrovers even look pretty"...

However, once I'd explained what I plan to do with it, and now she's seen all the *stars* driving them (she recognizes a G63 from 1000yards nowadays) she's grown to like it, and is genuinely keen for me to get the stupid quad bike finished so I can release some £££ and start the G project.... something I'm ultra keen on too!!

I bought my first G because the owner's wife didn't like it.

I bought my second G from the owner who's wife used it daily. She was furious as he bought her a Focus as a replacement.

What about those of us who ARE the wife and are the G owner and fan? Husband long-suffering who just puts up with my G obsession. Although he can see why and also understands my classic Saab fever too!!

Re: The wife and the G.

Mine has always had a soft spot for the g-wagens we've had, but really took against my w124 saloon leather, wood, auto black etc called it a coffin or a Mafioso car or a councilors car refused to sit in the front too. Been won over now though 1st choice for any and every trip, more comfortable than the g, faster, more fuel efficient and an auto

Re: The wife and the G.

A great post Derek and it did make me chuckle....

After Dr Spider1V’s ‘G Fever’ appearance on Britains Got Talent he has moved up a notch and is now co-hosting ‘Embarassing Bodies’ with Dr Christian J

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UQe8iXqpFgk

The top three ailments that Dr Spider1V is diagnosing are :-

·         If I’m not well looked after my under carriage starts rotting and going all flaky.

·         My dip stick isn’t long enough when off roading up hills.

·         I can’t grease my nipples because they are caked in mud.

I'm sure there are lots of other 'G' Ailments,

Have you got the big blue 463 now?

Re: The wife and the G.

Hi Tim

Glad a few people got a bit of a laugh from the post.

Yep - I have Big Blue 463 now and she drives like a train. Nice interior, sun roof and a sound system that would not be amis in a small night club. I think I've got 12 speakers !!.

The old Genesis CD's still sound great.

Mind yourself

Re: The wife and the G.

A laugh it was and still is ... mine loves the '91 463 with bouncy shocks (makes her laugh before the sea-sickness sets in), hates the '86 460 which needs lots done to it (anybody want it?!) but loves more the CLK55 - or did until the crackshaft position sensor failed and it wont even get back from the pub; all of 2.4 miles away!

Re: The wife and the G.

I haven't the neck to tell her yet that we are heading to Donegal this weekend (other live thread) on the G Wagon outing with the other 'anoraks.'...

She knows we are going somewhere for weekend but thinks there is some sort of 'shopping' involved. The only shops up that way will be to buy a box of cornflakes and maybe a few tins for the weekend.

Jeeze - let's hope it don't rain next weekend. She has no wellies....

Re: The wife and the G.

How about this DF?

You take her mid week shopping, allow a small budget for some fetching clothes, and as you pass an out doors shop, exclaim ' Why Darling, you don't have a set of boots' let go in and get some?' she should still be on her shopping 'high' and then both you and her are covered. I find over here a nice set of Hunters in Aubergine went down rather well....

Enjoy your weekend!
