Hi Guys....

ok so I have decided that the 16x5.5inch rims on my G are too restrictive in terms of filling the arches and giving the G a more muscular stance... so after a little persuasion in the 'war office'... i have been given the go ahead to purchase some new wheels and my existing Genuine MB 16x5.5 wheels & 205/85/16 tyres  will be sold to offset some of the cost.

I have been pondering a few questions.. one of which is the offset...

i remember reading somewhere here that the 460 and 463 have different offsets  which do i currently have? why the difference?

i have seen a website that sells genuine MB wheels they list the ET43 and ET63 on the same size 18" Ashtaroth's

the difference between now and then as can be seen on this chart

http://www.willtheyfit.com/index.php?width=205&aspect=85&diameter=16&whe...

they will be wrapped in 265/60/18 rubber.. (or 285/60/18 if they will fit?)

i want the wheels to fill out the arches...and as i measured 45mm from the existing wheel to the outer arch... the ET43 look like a better fit..also taking the wheels further out form the outriggers as well

comments and observations please...

Re: Which offset on a 460

You need the ET43 wheels on a 460 if you have a choice,   the 463 wheels will work you just lose a bit of lock, they'll foul on the suspesion arms on full lock.  I have ET 63s on my 460 with 265/60/18 yokos  it  handles great.  but I will be putting 40mm spacers on a soon as I've finished them so they fill the arches properly.

As said above the ET43 will give you a wider looking stance over the standard ET63 but because the 460 axle is 25mm narrower on each side compared with the 463 you will probably need 30-40mm wheel spacers depending on how wide a tyre you want to use.

BigBlock are you saying my standard wheels are a ET63 Offset?

this is something im unsure about....

i was hoping to avoid using wheel spacers by buying the largest and widest wheels i could without going all '460 Carlos Fandango'....

without modifying my car any more than fitting them

Have a look at my website www.pxwheels.com  and the g Wagen section, there are several wheels there with all the dimensions listed.

hope that helps

Ashtaroths frequently come up on ebay.

i have bought 2 sets  one for £800 and the other £1000 .

the £1000 set had not been on the road totally new.

both sets were fitted with geolander tyres

Hi John

It depends if they are the steel wheels or the alloy ones.

Here is a very useful website with detailed information about G Wagon wheels which should help you......

Re: Which offset on a 460

16" Ashtaroths definitely require spacers on a 460 because the steering arm fouls by a few mm otherwise. Also, unless you put something wide on them (you can run 12.5s on them despite the convention that 4 in oversize is the max) the ill look very anemic set back under the car.

Fit a set of spacers and you can then have whatever you like!
