What is up with the Weather?
Hello All,
Know it's been a while since posting here, however after a TV 'Blackout' due to watching the kids Xmas Videos, turned on the TV and watched the news for the first time in a few days.
Clare, Fran, Alex and I would like to extend our heartfelt sympathies to those who have been affected by the weather both here in the UK and across in Australia, California and South America and hope all our members and their loved ones are safe and well.
Our thoughts are with you all.

Man made global warming caused by using up much of the worlds fossil fuels has raised the temperature of our atmosphere, this in turn allows it to hold more moisture. The UK has had for the last few years a warm wet summer and also for the last three years warm monsoon winters. This year will be the both the warmest and wettest ever recorded. The weather we see today and have seen for the last 6 weeks may well become typical, I hope not but think it most likely, nor do I think that there is anything that can be done to arrest this phenomenon. So we can all look forward to mosquitos, Malaria, dengue fever, West Nile Virus and lots of other waterborne pests.
As a hick fay the sticks, wot encountered some rudimentary Geography and geology at school.
Mankind has probably, without realizing, despite the knowledge being long established, "flourished" due to a prolonged (from the human perspective) & benign stable "blip" in the Earths climate, between Ice Ages and Interglacial periods.
Simples,
Tis the Vanity of the Gods to think that Man has had any significient effect on the Earths climate, cept from breeding like vermin, which to the Earths ecosystem, we indeed are.
Tis even more vain to imagine (like those stupid & vain politicans at yon recent Summit) that without unacceptable changes to population and lifestyle, that man can significently "make good" for humankinds latent greed.
PS
Tis 40 or 50 years since my Farmer father "scolded" about (i) Individuals building expensive retirement bungalows in particularly flood prone picturessque bits of Magilligan.
(ii) Developers being allowed to build in attractive (from a money making builders perspective) low lying flood meadows, and being known as such to the farming community, round our local town, to sell to the unthinking and uncaring masses.
Cheers
