Sorry for asking so many questions, but I know now that the manual box wants ATF, but what do I put in the diff's and transfer case? Also, do I put a specific grease in the hubs?

thanks

Re: What oils

463?

80 oil in Transfer Box, not that easy to find.

90 in Diffs meant to be at least GL5 Spec, some use 75/90 in both diffs and Transfer box,

If you putting all that power through it, probably best not to skimp on quality

Re: What oils

I have a 460 auto

when I changed all my oils... i was told by MB that the transfer box uses standard gearbox oil.. 2 Litres (although i advise to buy three litres as you cant squeeze every drop from the bottle as it in such an awkward place to access... recommend using a pump to put it in. the grease is standard grease i used on the drive shafts... bought from Machine Mart along with a flexible grease application tube for the grease gun I used MB Diff oil.... not cheap at £80... i think i got 4 or 5 litres.... well worth doing... as my rear diff oil stank as it was so worn out.... had to heat the filler bolt to get it out... you will need a set of drain plug removers... i got mine from Halfords for 10 quid.. multiple sizes on there... although i think from memory its 14mm..

I also replaced all the drain plugs... as mine were a bit rusty... not really necessary but at only 1.50 each seemed like a good idea (no copper washers as std)

good luck

John
