W463 SWB auto wanted

Must be SWB and auto. The more factory fitted extras the better.

I'm in South Devon but will travel anywhere and pay cash

Can anyone point me a good one please ? I'll let you know on this thread if/when I get one.

Thanks

Dave

Hi Dave The thing with a G, especially a G, is you need to look at it up close and from the underneath up and out. Granted more so on the 460 than the 463. However you are in the right place as an initial post here, as you have done, can flush a lot of the rubbish vehicles out as some... and I emphasise some... of the known offenders are known to the far more learned members of the club than me. If one does get your interest up - and I am sure there will be people along to advise on some of the weaker engines etc - then as well as the ad, which you have posted, trying to get the VIN might be helpful for people like Gavin to be able to look at history. As for this one - the full service history helps, but I would ring the 'servicing' garage up and ask them about some of them - you can see the dealer and contact details in the log book shot - because like mine (and this might be why they have a 'T' against them - they all look to have been completed at the same time by the same person. Or by someone with exactly the same style of handwriting over 2 years :-) And finally whilst no EBay expert his 100% rating is based on 4 sales?? if I am reading it right.. Or to summarise - let it simmer with the members here for advice, but approach with more caution than usual... In my opinion only :-) Simon

The door panels ought to match the seats, so best guess is the seats are from a w124 and have been made to fit, but that's just a guess, the mileage shouldn't put you off, its nothing for a diesel and shows the cars been used rather than slowly seizing up in a garage.

 Hi David

suggest reading through some of the excellent advice in the ' buying advice' section. So rather dubious people around selling G's

It has a Webasto heater fitted, it's a factory one. The negative battery terminal is disconnected. Can't imagine anyone doing that to a regularly used G.

Too many issues I think !

So it's an auto SWB from a W463 to a G500.

Help ?

Dave

Just noticed the old GWizz magazine copies. Must have been in the club at home point?

Re: W463 SWB auto wanted

Superficially, the ebay one looks good - and a good (starting) price, too, if everything were to check out on it - but as Simon says, a detailed inspection is always required as its the bits that can't be seen in the photos that can cause problems. Also, I find it curious that the service book is all in the same hand-writing style and same ink and same signature. I know my handwriting changes a bit from day to day. Most main dealers have several stamps - often, each a little different - and several technicians to fill-in the books.

The grey, (lower) dash normally goes with grey carpets and light seats. So perhaps has had some parts swapped around at some time. Its Data Card (VIN required) will confirm how it left the factory.
