W460 -> Fuse 1 & Rear left stop light issue

Hello togheter,

I'm having a weird situation on my 1986 300GD. The fuse 1 blew. I replace it and as soon as I turn on the presence light the brake light came on. With the open circuit on the fusebox the brake light is working fine but as soon as I connect the fuse it light up togheter with the presence light.
During a small trip with lights on the last fuse also blew and the diesel, temp gauges and turn lights became off. Any thoughts on this?

Hi,

you are not a full member so cannot get to the docs and wiring diagrams in the members sections, so here they are.

You need to see what the Fuse 1 is covering, and find the ground or short circuit there.  It sounds like it could be in the wiring loom, behind the dash, rubbing through onto metal.  Just a wild guess at this point.
