unleaded?

I cannot be 100% 'cause I have always run diesel GWagens but I would bet my right hand that there was an article in the GWizz many moons ago talking about this which said that all M110 engines fitted in a GWagen (280 GE) had been made by MB with hardened valve seats and that therefore no aditives or conversions whatsoever were needed.

Somebody out there to confirm????

unleaded?

My manual covers the 230 and 280 6cyl. It says the 280 (460) runs on 92 octane whereas the injected 230GE (mine) is min 98 ron. It would seem from that that the 280 should already be running on 92. I've run my GE on unleaded when I've had no choice and I've had no problems with pinking or anything else - I prefer to stick with 4 star or Optimax if its available.

unleaded

Mercedes has confirmed to me that my 280 (d registration) can run on unleaded petrol without problem and I have done so for the last 6 years. Best advice is to call MB with your engine and chassis number and get a confirmation.

unleaded?

I've run my 1986 280 GEL on Unleaded Petrol for the last 11 years or so. No doubt I asked my mechanic at the time. I have never had any problems.

unleaded?

What year did the 230 engine start running on unleaded, what is required to convert it to unleaded?

As there is only unleaded in ireland, so I'll have to use an additive

unleaded

Hi G-Man
I have been playing around with super (4-star) unleaded and premium unleaded
here in Australia and my 280 seems to burn it all OK Maybe there's a fraction more
zip from Optimax but it's hard to tell without timings.
I don't get pinging but I do add some fuel treatment when buying standard unleaded
from remote outback stations in case of water or stale storage .
