turbo conversion

Hi guys New member and 1st blog. My g is a w463 of 1993 vintage with the 6 cylinder diesel engine. Although it's much faster than the 5 cylinder engine I've had before I would like to fit a turbo. Can anyone help with this. Where can I find the bits how much extra hp can I get and what will it cost Cheers peter

Re: turbo conversion

Hi Peter,

In my opinion; rather than spending your money on converting your current OM602, I think - gone rusty not being on the forum, you would be better off by fitting in a donor OM606a engine which is factory turbo charged.

There is some work to be done on the conversion like fitting of intercooler (won't explain now  but very important, other wise don't bother wasting your money at half a job done), mountings, modifying the sump pan, oil pump, injector pump with more bits and bobs. The cost depending on how much and what you want from it could be between £4,000 - £7,000.

Alternatively, commission the work by two well know members on the forum Mike Axle for one in the south and Gordon from up North.

Or you could live and enjoy with what you already have and slowly build up the parts as you get hold of them and convert for your self if you are that inclined. But please do your research well and above all be patient.
