Re: Tuned 662 video

Surely the metal bodied vehicle in nearer to 2 tons than 2 and a half, nit picking but the van is much lighter than the 5 door vehicle with its extra seats and glass. Impressive performance though

Tony,

Very impressive conversion and if the British Army replaces all its Land Rovers with G's then I'm sure you and Axel will be asked to 'Serve Your Country'...............

What are the returns MPG wise?

Looking to seeing it first hand.

Re: Tuned 662 video

it does go really well, i have driven it and the low down pickup is remarkable , using the 6mm elements and the 606a kkk turbo does the 'business' - it also has a nice 5 cylinder exhaust 'yowl'  .

Re: Tuned 662 video

Do any of these engines have VGT or VNT turbo's? or are they all "normal" fixed impellor turbos?

I've got a VGT on my Td5 landrover, and it makes the world of difference... would be a nice thing to try on a G, especially with an autobox where you can't rev it and drop the clutch, lower end torque would be nice... although I suspect a 3 litre with 6mm nozzles and the boost raised a bit won't be short on torque anyway!

Re: Tuned 662 video

Am using std kkk 606 turbo with 15 psi msport waste gate actuator and 6mm elements , have not found sweet spot yet.

Have twice retarded a tad but. dont have as much torque as I expect yet.  However....goes absolute gangbusters from 2000 rpm and 1050' F egt is plenty/max with sensible piston life.

I ran my previous 662 'stock' ,pump maxed by pro ,waste gate at 18 psi , shed loads of pulling power from 1000 rpm.

Turbo's ? See US forums for variety , follow the scandinavians for sense and use Holset 35.

Am assembling the ingredients for a 2.9 block with 20 v head and pistons + 7mm fuel elements

Edit : M A-B was right , 6 spd a dream to use , I had always liked the hd 5 speeds til now
