Re: speedo

Hi Dale

I can only do one bit of your request - I live in Manchester :-). I think you will find others on here will agree that the best people for the job are Speedy Cables in Wales - which means you need to get it out of the dash?

Link is: http://www.speedycables.com/

They are not quick and you have the issue of driving round without a speedo - I used my GPS.

Re: speedo

Thanks Simon. I'll give them a call. It's my wife's day to day vehicle so I suspect there may be a speeding ticket coming in the post once take them out or a call to say she has run it out of diesel and of course it will be my fault.

Cheers

Re: speedo

I had mine done by Speedograph Richfield as milecounter stopped working, speedo was fine however. They are based in Notts but you can post?

Can rig up Sat Nav as speedo as short term measure?

Re: speedo

What is wrong with your Speedo? Have you checked output of speedo cable driveshaft at Transfer Box? I am sure mine failed after MOT tester put it on Brake Rolling Road, same thing happened to someone else.

Re: speedo

Hi

What's wrong with the Speedo?

No or intermittent needle movement?

Speedy Cables for me of the head is fubar, good service

If the drive gear has failed as suggested above then the picture attached will help

This usually happens shortly after a rolling road / brake test at MOT

Had 5/6 that i know about in the last 18 months or so, all SWB 300GD 463's?!?

Drive  Gear is in the rear of the Transfer Case

Hope that helps

Re: speedo

The needle is a bit jumpy up to about 25mph  but I've been living with that for a while. Now the mileage and trip have stopped working. I've had them out before and thought it may be down to the cable not being screwed in the back properly but on closer inspection and spinning them with a cordless I can see the exact cog that has worn. I have an old 124 series and was hoping I could strip them down for the bit but the back of them are not the same. I think its going to have to go of to speedy cables.
