SPARE WHEEL CARRIER
Hi,
The spare wheel on my G is mounted on the roof, somewhat unusually.
I intend adding another to the rear door, where it belongs, but was wondering what secures it. At the minute there are only 3 grommets.
Can anyone help, please.

Mine has the three "grommets" too. That is, if you mean a grommet is like a reversed bolt.
What year is your car? Maybe someone with something similar can take pics and help you out.
As for the wheel on the roof? Must be pain not being able to get into a car park!? :roll:
Take care to get the correct carrier,they are different for alloy wheels, extend a bit further from the door and will not fit one made for steel wheel.
You obviously need a spare wheel carrier and the three bolts to hold it to the rear door in place of the grommets you see know. As Guerdeval says, take care of getting the right one (alloys or steel wheels) since the bolts holding the wheel have different lenghts.
Speak to Markvulture (forum member number 136). He was breaking a number of Gs and he should have the right parts for you at the right price.

popped along to my local Merc garage and found them as helpful as ever.
Now have a schematic to work from, and a scary price if I cant source a secondhand one!!
