In the down pours we have had in kent over the last few days I have noticed:
While my headlamps and wipers were on when i turn the indicators on the dials IE petrol and temp gauge react to the click. I gather this is an earth fault. The question is:
Is there any hidden earth leads or will I just have to go round all of them to make sure the contact is good. I noticed a whole buch together on the bulkhead with only one small screw

It's quite common on the 460 series. I think that Bosch hired rejects from Lucas to engineer the electrical systems.

Go through and check/tighten all grounding points, including those up front in the engine compartment. There are lots of them.

You might also do well to clean the contacts to the instrument cluster.

Hi Greeney
I havent heard of this problem with the G wagen but it was quite common on 123 & 126
what we do is install a lager earth wire from dash to earthing point behind on body and this cured it so give it a try. If you wanted to be presise you could check for a voltage drop between dash and earth or ressistance of earth wire from dash to chassis, but if you try the modification it can only make things better and is easy to do

Terry,

1) 50 posts I think.

2) On the index page:

http://www.gwoa.co.uk/forum

click to the right hand side of the screen: "View posts since last visit"
http://www.gwoa.co.uk/forum/search.php?search_id=newposts
It should work then.
