Hi everyone, I think it's about time I replaced my suspension. I know that orc springs and konis are very popular bu, my budget won't stretch that far! I don't want a lift and I'd like to improve the road manners, although I think anything would be an improvement! Any advice on what to buy and where to buy it from would be great! Thanks Mud

I got sachs sportline for about £50each. They seem pretty good, quite firm though.

Springs. KYB are reasonably priced but have good reviews.

Best springs are Spidan but only available in Germany, through eBay, good choice of specs, did fit kyb unfortunately found standard far too prone to bottoming out.

Re: Shocks and springs advice please?

I've got kyb on the rear, never bottomed out.  They are on a lwb.

Bottoming out could be due to dampers.

Of course all of this is a bit of a mine field, mixing and matching components from different manufacturers.

I've driven a G Wagen with orc springs and koni dampers. It was horrible. Too stiff, over damped and a shed load of money.

Re: Shocks and springs advice please?

Cheap shit kyb springs and shocks are fine for my g wagon

Its done a few thousand hard miles with them on

I am no cheap skate so i opted for the premium dampers instead of the basic ones lol

Only a few pounds extra

I agree the merc parts are very very good and others too but i could buy many sets of kyb for the cost of others

Jason gds and myself, also adrian and the best off road guide on the planet(local but never picks up a map ) have done many green lanes and they still seem the same as when first fitted

At a guess 3 years ago and probably 30,000 miles

I rate them for quality and cost
