Reverse & fog light side swap for MOT help please
The task is relatively easy enough but either one or both lamps may need the wiring extended to fit the different sides; I cannot remember if the bumper has to come off though.
It could be that a lens transfer will do to job, if the reflectors are the same in which case all that is required is swap the electrics to the lamps.
I don't think you need to remove the bumper but you will be lucky if you can remove the main mounting bolts as these generally corrode up. Think lenses interchangeable so probably easier to extend harness. Unless you can sit in car for mot and rig the reverse light switch for mot!
Unless your testing station has specifically mentioned this or it bothers you, I would not trouble swapping them over. I have mine set for LHD and no MOT station has ever said anything.
But, if you do want to do it, just swap the lenses around - the rear shells are identical- and pull the wires out from the rear of each lamp. You will need to lengthen the wires, probably for each to reach the other side.
You do not need to remove the bumper. If you have a mat to lie down on, while you crawl beneath with a torch, that will help.
If you actually want to remove the lights, you need a 10mm spanner to loosen two nuts at the top rear of each lamp, which allows the lights to slide out. Again, this can be done without removing the bumper.

You cannot leave them as is. It is a requirement of the test that a rear fog light be either in the centre or to the right hand side, With regard to the reverse lamp - this is not a testable item.

Obviously not the same as one is red and the other is white, but from memory, I think the back-shell of the lamps is the same.
As for the location of the lamps, I don't deny it's a requirement to have the fog-lamp on the offside, but just saying that of several MOT stations, not one has picked up on this.
Lengthen wires and either swap lenses or lamps. Its the easiest solution and wont cost much. Just use decent connectors or best is to solder wires and heat shrink tube them. Best to ct wires at different spacing for each lamp so you dont have a ball when you tape it back up
