Replacement Tyres
I currently have Yokohama Mud digger 31x10.5x15 fitted to my 1988 280ge swb
I will need to change them shortly and I wonder if anyone has found a well suited mud tyre for the g-wagen . The vehicle is mainly used for off road events so is only driven on the road a limited amount (to and from events).
What would be the largest tyre I would be able to fit without modification to the body or chassis on my alloys
Many thanks
Giles Riddington
depends what kind of terrain you on, I use 33x12.50 bfg's for soft boggy ground and simex when in clay. both about same money but if you are on std springs go for 32x11.50 bfg muds
Hello, now i'm looking for a Dunlop Grand Trek MT2 it have a very good look, they have a lot of sizes. If you can find it, tell me something Ok? :)
if it is really only mud you're after, apparently nothing ever came even close to a interco bogger (see pic.). onroad these tires are obviously absolute rubbish.
up to 32/33 inch is doable only with (higher) springs.
onroad these tires are obviously absolute rubbish.
Can´t agree with you more...
I trust that you´ve got good gums holding your teeth when you use these on the road.....
They're probably metamorphical and automatically change to road rubber at the drop af a hat ( or divit ). :P
Speak to Neil Redpath at Redpath Tyres, Duns, Berwickshire. They specialise in 4x4 competition tyres and know what they're talking about!
ridd,
don't know how much these are in the uk. (germany aprox 350 euros for 35" imported)
here you can find infos about sizes:
http://www.intercotire.com/html/body_tsl___bogger.htm
find yourself a dealer who would import them. in the us they're roadlegal, but they don't have a "E" sign to be roadlegal here. however, i know people who are driving them without probs or bigger argues with the fuzz (in germany you've got to get approval from a sort of MOT-GUY who would enter the tiresizes into your loggbook, when he agrees in terms of road safety and so on). coppers can't do anything against it, when the mot says OK.
not sure for england, but you may loose insurance cover when driving these onroad.
up to 70 miles per hour they're ok on dry surface, i hear, but you don't want to go any faster than that, or get into icy or snowy conditions. handling performance on road a bit "swimy" on tide corners, but doable.
attached a pic from a gut with a G500 and boggers. so when it's good for 300+ HP it should be ok for most of us

flo
the tyres in your picture look very agresive how much would 31/10.50/15 be each ?
I have currently fitted colway mt (similar tread pattern too BF Goodrich) and found both on road and off road to be initiallly good. Only time and more (serious)off roading will tell if they were a good buy.
