Replace bushings or shocks?
Hi
I have a 2011 G350 and have just been told that the bushings are starting to perish. What is your opinion? Do you think I should replace the bushings or replace the complete set of shocks?
I look forward to your comments.
Thanks
Barry
While you are there, definitely do the shocks....they are not so expensive. Just be careful if you consider springs as well as I did it and the new springs were harder by a long way and the new shocks didn't seem to improve the ride eiither - made it handle well on motorways but too bumpy around town (and off road).
I also got adjustable shocks for the rear, but you have to pre-set them as you fit which I think is useless. You might want or get a 40mm lift with the springs, but I preferred not to.
Unless hammered on tracks etc, your bushes are probably o.k? Usually go individually, what do they look like?
Shocks I expect a 350 has gas shocks, only real way is to remove one to test, , new ones would probably be an improvement, but £500 ish for Bilstein B6 or Koni etc.
Thanks for comments. Very surprised that new shocks and springs didn’t make your driving experience better. I am not sure I would be too happy after all that and the driving experience stayed the same.
