Hi There, I am currently looking for a G-Project. I came across This Metallic Brown G with the 2.8 Petrol Auto Setup.

I have a few questions: laugh

Is This a factory colour ?

It has a lift kit fitted (trail Master) and some off road tyres- i am not sure if this decreases the value or ads value

(i sepose depends on your needs)

from 2004 - the service histroy all points to it only doing 30 thousand miles since new (1988) which i highly doubt (probably been around the clock-130 thousand)

the current owner has started to dismantle parts and tart it up, a little some powder coating etc. I am interested in the vehicle but wondered what your advice to would be!

Any advice would be great! thanks Tom wink

Re: Purchase Advise-Metalic Bronze/Brown G wagon

I think 6k seems to be a typical price for a 460 in mediocre condition. Have a good look at the chassis and check the suspension mounts. Also look for rust around the rear quarters, wheel arches, rear door etc.

Much of this information on what to look for is here from similar previous posts.

As you are probably aware, the mile-ometer will re-start from 0 after 99,999 miles, so higher than indicated mileage may well be likely. However, I do see a number of 280GEs advertised with fairly low mileage for their age. It might be that the 280GE has quite a thirsty engine that dissuades high mileage?

At some stage it has been in the club (see red sticker by rear view).

Which is the dealer selling it?
Has the dealer listed any Major fixes in the last few years (often a good indicator that it has been loved)
Not sure the wing mirrors are original.
Missing tow eye at the front bumper (is that a 460 bumper?)
Interior shots would be good.
Lift up the carpets and see if there are any rust holes

And that's my limit of 460's - am sure other members will jump in. However for the £6K I would be wanting a working G with MOT for at least 12 months, tax and a truck that will not need major expense for at least a year.

That one has been on ebay for ages.... about a year odd that I know of, as I bookmarked it prior to buying mine.

It has indeed been for sale for over a year, went to look at it,

Its tatty, as are the rest of the 4x4's  that Motorhomes & Leisure Vehicles of Hipperholme have for sale,

As a project car - have a really good look around it before committing, possibly OK but at about a 1K miniumum less then advertised inho.
