Price advice for a w460
Knowing that advertised and sold prices for old Landrovers are often miles apart, I wonder if someone could give me an idea of the realistic prices for mid 80's petrol 3 door wagons. Something usable, not pristine, original, not pimped. I know it might be a how long is a piece of string request, but some ball park figures would be very helpful. Thanks,
I'll chip in with £12-15k for something that matches your spec but will have some small issues to be remedied
Sub £10k are usually projects or require lots of work
Nice clean and not much needed £15-20k
Anything over £20k should be very nice...seen up to £45k recently as known sold prices
As with any models but it seems very particular to G and especially in the higehr brackets you can get stung for £25k for a car that really is very bad... this happens a lot! and oh so very occasionally you can get a £9-12k car that is really very solid if tired looking
There are never any bargains!
Do your research and ask questions... the old adage of the only question you don't ask is the daft one!
The above is probably very similar detail to LR ... but a jump up in price?
Chassis are usually excellent, save upper rear shock and spring mounts... if its any different walk away as the body will almost certainly be heavily rotted if the chassis is bad
Bodys do rust around the rear and sills... and screen frame and occionally other random areas
Everything is fixable but parts prices both new and used have jumped like everything else... but new have shot up quite a hike!
And used parts are not readily available like LR parts
Not trying to put you off!! I have 3... just go in with open eyes... once right they are brilliant and don't take much looking after or consume parts in general
I'll pm you (see messages to exchange email etc)
I would be up to passing on my 3rd G. It's just not getting any use. It's a 1989 230GE Auto.
It's off the road at the moment. It needs MOT and TLC, but was a daily car in early 2022
Engine good (replaced in 2020). Chassis very good. Interior good. Auto seems fine. It needs some rust work doing (cosmetic I 'd say) and a small service on rear drum brakes which were braking unevenly for the MOT.
It was a £14k+ car, but it owes me £12.5k which is fair considering it needs putting back on the road with MOT.
These are recent pics.
Thanks Gav, that's very helpful.
